Dear all,
For numerous reasons, including lack of confidence in UIC management, Straightshots have withdrawn from UIC with immediate effect. The decision was taken on Monday 22 September 2008 with the approval of Laura (Head Admin), Steven (Interleague Coordinator), Nigel (UIC Captain) and Marie (UIC Co-Captain).
We are sorry to have to reach this conclusion, having been founder members of UIC, but we have seen a decline in standards including management, and particularly, the behaviour of teams.
There have been numerous incidents in recent weeks which have led us to believe that SS are being treated unfairly by UIC admin. As a result, we no longer wish to compete under the present climate which we believe is unhealthy and, in places, corrupt. In realising that we all are involved in online pool primarily for enjoyment, SS can no longer tolerate the abuse, harrassment and intimidation prevailing on a weekly basis under the auspices of UIC who do nothing to help stamp out regular offenders.
UIC Swiss is a separate competition and SS will continue to take part and complete the current season.
This website will be recreated under the general banner of 'SS-IL', covering our interleague involvement as a whole, rather than just UIC.
We would like to thank every player who has given support and commitment to the SS-UIC team. Your efforts have been very much appreciated.
